Accompanying Salvadorans’ struggle for social justice since 1985

The Ottawa-Gatineau based SalvAide-facilitated Pegasus-El Salvador Solidarity Delegation has travelled to the historic highland town of San José Las Flores, Chalatenango for two weeks in August supporting community education projects, particularly the reconstruction of the town's cultural centre.

This year, delegates raised nearly $2,000 for SalvAide's projects in the community.

Delegation participants are mostly post-secondary students who share a common goal. Having visited San José Las Flores in past years (often as part of SalvAide's delegations in partnership with Ottawa Catholic High Schools), they have a strong bond with the community and wish to do more to support education there. Participants fundraise throughout the year to help give the children and youth in Las Flores more opportunities to express themselves through the arts. While in Las Flores, delegates become a part of the community and contribute as they can and in solidarity through public works.

SalvAide sincerely thanks the Pegasus Solidarity Delegation's participants for its ongoing accompaniment of El Salvador.
